How to upgrade from Magento 2.1.0 to 2.1.2 using composer

You can upgrade Magento from the command line if you installed the software using any of the following:

  • Downloaded the meta package using composer create-project
  • Installed the compressed archive
  1. Log in to your Magento server
  2. Open composer.json (e.g. vim composer.json)
  3. Replace all instances of 2.1.0 with 2.1.2 (there’s only 2)
  4.  Run composer update
  5. Authentication required (Found by logging in to Magento Marketplace > My Products > My Access Keys > Magento 2)
    1. Username: This is your public key
    2. Password: This is your private key
  6. Run php bin/magento setup:upgrade
  7. Clear your cache
